Kenya on Saturday recorded 1,259 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 203,213 , Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.
The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 1,259 recording a positivity rate of 15.6 per cent.
The cumulative tests stand at 2,132,355..
The country’s fatalities have risen to 3,931 after another five patients succumbed to the disease on diverse dates.
Kagwe said that there are f 1,469 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 3,965 patients are on the home-based care programme.
A total of 185 patients are in ICU, out of which 43 are on ventilatory support.
Also, 445 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 399 of them in general wards and 46 in High Dependency Units (HDU)
Meanwhile,498 patients have recovered from the disease with 357 from Home-Based Isolation and Care while 141 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries now stand at 188,936 out of which150,552 are from Home Based Care and Isolation program, while 38,384 are from various health facilities.
As of Friday, a total of 1,723,727 vaccines had been administered across the country. Of these, total first doses are1,062,413 while second doses are 661,314.
“The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 62.2 per cent with the majority being males at 55 per cent while females are at 45 per cent. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 2.45 per cent,” Kagwe said.
