Murang’a County Governor Mwangi Wa Iria will on Tuesday commission the distribution of thousands of county manufactured masks in a bid to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
The masks are exclusively manufactured in Murang’a County and are reusable for sustainability, according to Governor Wa Iria.
Among the recipients of the masks will be market traders, shops attendants, service providers in critical areas, quarry attendants, drivers and conductors and construction site workers.
Governor Wa Iria last week launched a county-wide free masks programme targeting specific sectors.
The Murang’a County government has put in place a number of measures to curb the virus’ spread. Some of them include: screening of all passengers and transport staff on transit to the county, suspension of market days, the fumigation of public spaces and closure of all barbershops and salons.
