Vihiga county government to get a supply of PPEs worthy Ksh. 4.5 million for six months in the fight against coronavirus pandemic from Equity bank foundation.
This was said by Igathe the Equity chief commercial officer yesterday while at Vihiga referral hospital in Mbale where he handed the first consignment to Governor Wilber Ottichillo.
Igathe said Equity foundation is only supplementing to what the government has done against the fight of covid-19 pandemic.
He said Equity group was partnering with counties in the war against Coronavirus vowing that with concentrated efforts, it must be won.
The war against this pandemic is a collective effort by individuals observing state regulations in place said Igathe.
“Mask wearing, sanitizing, and observing social distance should be a personal responsibility and not doing so to evade police arrests,” Igathe said.
Igathe was the former Deputy Governor to Mike Sonko in Nairobi County.
He said the Bank had raised Ksh. 1.2B kitty whose proceeds were being used to buy PPE’s to support in handling the pandemic.
“Kenyans are going through tough economic times as a result of the pandemic that is why we must join our hands together to deal with in”, Igathe said.
Igathe said Vihiga is among the 16 counties that are benefiting from the kitty and Nandi Kisii as well.
“Our front line soldiers in this war against Covid-19 are the health workers who we must ensure they are safe to help completely stamp out the pandemic,” Igathe said.
Igathe said the PPEs delivered are of quality standards and counterchecked by the Covid-19 response liaison team.
